The annual FFA week is right around the corner, and with it comes a flood of themed excitement. Future Farmers of America, or FFA, is a club here at Denmark that is closely associated with the Vet Science pathway. The club, however, welcomes more than just farmers; as stated on the National FFA Organization website, FFA is also “the Future Biologists, Future Chemists, Future Veterinarians, Future Engineers and Future Entrepreneurs of America, too.” Denmark’s award winning chapter works with members to offer different leadership opportunities and promote personal growth. Each meeting hosts a variety of activities, such as career exploration and seasonal games.
So what is FFA week, and why does it matter? FFA is a multifaceted organization, and the main goal of the week is to celebrate the club’s many different aspects. It consists of an array of themed days, some of the favorites being Ag Teacher Appreciation Day on Wednesday and Wear Blue Day on Friday. Officer Emma Wisenbaker shares that her favorite part is “celebrating the end of FFA week during our chapter meeting Friday afternoon. All of our members wear their National Blue for Wear Blue Day, and we celebrate everything we have done to serve our community and FFA during the week.” FFA week is an opportunity for the club to come together as a family and honor their contributions.

This special week is celebrated amongst all chapters across the United States, and it is an opportunity for unity amongst all members. Wisenbaker notes that “FFA week is not just about our chapter. It is about celebrating and representing the over 80,000 Georgia FFA members and over 1 million National FFA members through our pride and love for this organization and the opportunities it has provided us, and that is something every FFA member can relate to.” FFA members are deeply dedicated to the organization’s mission of promoting leadership and service, and the week instills a sense of shared pride.
As this year’s National FFA Week kicks off on February 15 and extends through February 22, look out for FFA club members coming together to celebrate their chapter’s incredible impact and achievement.
