The week of February 9 through February 13, 2026, is Modern World Language Week here at Denmark High. Modern World Language Week, or MWLW, is a full week where students enrolled in international language classes can truly experience their language’s culture, as well as others. This is done through activities and performative events where the students make artistic creations or do poetic acting/writing, and then demonstrate their knowledge about their language. This is a time where students have a choice from many different activities, such as cooking a dish, reciting a poem, or making pieces of art.
From the wide variety of events to choose from, there is certainly something for everyone. Mrs. Pagano, one of the Spanish teachers, showed her excitement by saying, “World Language Week gives exposure and understanding of your own value of your experiences. It also can open up travelling opportunities.” MWLW is a really great way for students learning languages to get real world experience and connect with their cultures, as well as learning about other cultures. Overall, MWLW is a very exciting week that will truly connect students with the rest of the world.
