This year’s show, Majesty, quite literally made history at Denmark. Ms. Poor, the band director, describes how the show that made Denmark the class AA champion came together, “We wanted to do a fun show that the crowd could easily understand. We drew inspiration from the musical Six, which prompted us to follow the ‘Majesty’ theme.” Ms. Poor goes on to talk about how the team built the show by blending classical and modern pieces. The show features songs such as “Chandelier” by Sia, the Saint-Saëns’ Organ Symphony Finale, along with “Everybody Wants to Rule the World.”
The show, which students describe as “regal” and “golden,” stood out among competitors through the exceptional leadership of the drum majors, Kayla Bae and Juliana Tirado Pena. Members of the color guard and percussion also played a key role, earning recognition throughout the season for their performances.

Starting from the summer, all members of the marching band attended practices and band camp. Freshmen describe it as the best experience ever, and upperclassmen as a great way for team bonding and learning their music. Saxophonist Isha Mane shared that one of her favorite parts of marching band is building friendships and being surrounded by such dedicated musicians.
Through long days performing from morning to night, drum major Kayla Bae spoke about how the band built a strong sense of community through all the times they spent together. As a part of marching band for several years, she says, “I love being able to showcase what we’ve worked so hard on. You’ve seen them, and you’ve definitely heard them blasting their strong tunes throughout the bleachers, boosting school spirit and drawing Denmark as a whole closer together. Besides from all of the awards and achievements, members of the marching band sure do remember this past season as one of the best and most fun yet. With every note, “Majesty” lived up to its name, leaving an impression long after the music fades.
